Join PAW at the International Conference on the Protection of Humanitarian Aid Workers

We are proud to announce that Protect Aid Workers will be joining the upcoming International Conference on the Protection of Humanitarian Aid Workers as an official conference partner.

A Critical Moment for Humanitarian Action

This gathering comes at a time when collective action could not be more urgent. In 2025 alone, 1,187 aid workers were killed, injured, kidnapped, or arbitrarily detained, with local and national staff accounting for 97% of these casualties.

These violations do not only threaten the lives and wellbeing of dedicated humanitarians; they directly obstruct the delivery of life-saving aid to communities in crisis.

Moving Beyond Solidarity to Action

Co-hosted by the European Union and Ireland during its Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the conference in Brussels represents a vital opportunity to move beyond statements of solidarity and implement concrete, practical solutions.

By placing local aid workers and survivors at the heart of the dialogue, the event aims to:

  • Share best practices in humanitarian risk management and staff care.

  • Build peer support networks across national and international organizations.

  • Strengthen protection mechanisms directly where aid is delivered.

  • Visualise human impact through compelling survivor and frontline worker stories.

Meet Protect Aid Workers in Brussels

As an official partner, Protect Aid Workers will be exhibiting and engaging directly with frontline responders, government representatives, and sector partners in Brussels to help shape a safer future for humanitarians worldwide.

As part of our presence, we will be featuring a powerful portrait photography exhibition. Through these portraits, we aim to bring the human element of protection to the forefront, showcasing the resilience of aid workers and illustrating the impact of our support.
